North America lighting engineering association published LM-82-12 standard test method
North America lighting engineering association (IESNA) has published LM-82-12 standard test method recently; this test method can measure the relationship of LED light engine and LED bulb light electrical, optical properties and the temperature in working status. The new standards provided a consistent test method, which help lamps manufacturers choose LED light engine and integrate bulb light.
LED light engine is a modular device, which is composed of LED light source, drive and heat-sink. Light engine offers a more modular method for lamps design. Different testing results in different temperature to light engine can be applied to multiple lamps, this helps reduce the test complex and the expenses for the whole industry.
Rita Harrold, director of North America lighting project institute, said: "lamps design way and Applications environment can change LED heat environment around. By measuring LED light engine electrical and optical parameters in different temperature, lamps manufacturers can make light output of some intended design (including decorative lamps and non directional lamps) to meet the expected.
