Thailand Flood Disaster Causing LED Order Transferred Effect

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck was currently on the air to make a public statement to all Thailand people, described the serious the flood disaster. Thailand is the second largest global hard disk manufacturing country, the four biggest hard disk companies of WDC, Seagatei, Toshiba and Hitachi also have established plant in Thailand. As we realize, hard disk vendors such as WDC have been forced to close the plant under the influence of flood. Further more, orders transferred effect appear in many LED manufactories. Avago, a big LED manufactory have to look for other manufactories in Taiwan to rush order urgently. Unity Opto Technology also help Avago to complemented the shortage from Oct, And its month revenue is as high as tens of millions of dollars. Meanwhile in order to complement the shortage of sensor devices and LED elements due to flood, Unity Opto Technology started to increase its production capacity in Mainland China.

Some LED manufactories have had their employees took a holiday without salary. Mr. Wu Qinghui, the CEO of Unity Opto Technology indicated on 2011-11-26 that the employees were shortage in Unity Opto Technology due to bulk orders from Avago.

Many Thailand industries had been stopped due to flood disaster. Meanwhile Avago worried about the shortage of raw materials, it had went to Taiwan for solution urgently. As confirmation from Mr. Wu Qinghui that Unity Opto Technology had received the order transferred from Avago. In fact Avago is a customer of attacked supplied LED lights applied in Motor. And now its production lines is under approval. It is good opportunity for Avago to release orders to Unity Opto Technology in this Thailand flood disaster.

As we know, Avogo also have suppliers of sensor devices and LED elements in Thailand, but all were attacked and influenced by flood. Avago have to come to Taiwan ask for help since its supply chain is affected seriously. Avago has arranged the production process with attacked Unity Opto Technology urgently from last week, and the shipment would be started from Jan.

Mr. Wu Qinghui indicated that the supply chain were affected seriously, at least half year due to flood disaster. But it is good opportunity for Unity Opto Technology to work with Avago on the supply chain of other product.
